Ergonomics is a way of living. It’s the process of arranging and moulding products you use and the the place you live or work in such a way that it fits your system perfectly; such that while doing every task, your body takes more of a natural position and is not getting strained in any way.
Ergonomics allows for a strain, stress and pain free life
Why is Ergonomics Necessary
In modern digital age, most of us are attuned to working on laptops and PCs for long hours without much physical activity. Our lifestyles - both at home and work have become immune to the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. Such disorders cause pain of varying degrees in muscles, joints, bones or ligaments in limbs or back.
Other related cause apart from prolonged immobilization is repetitive movement or muscle overuse. Bad body posture, working in an awkward position, exposure to constant vibration and physical trauma can also cause damage to the musculoskeletal system, resulting in one or many of the following issues:
Repetitive Strain Injury - RSI
Hand and wrist tendonitis
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Swelling and stiffness
Sprains & tears in extreme conditions
Looking at the above trend, it becomes imperative for us to adopt ergonomic ways of living both at work and at home. The good news is, people have seen significant improvement in their condition after acquiring ergonomic habits.
For people who don’t yet have chronic pains but see minor symptoms, shifting to an ergonomic lifestyle will proactively help avoid these issues cropping up in future, and lead a happy pain-free life.
Long working hours in front of a computer in the same position could be taxing on your body. Neck, Wrist, Fingers and Back injuries due to bad posture are normal these days and once these problems arise, it takes a long time and life style changes to get back to normal. Find the right position to sit in office and tips to a healthy life.
